Kruger National Park is seen as the top tourist attraction in South Africa. The park is 2 000 000 hectares (19 685 square Km) and forms part of the Kruger Trans-frontier Park, in conjunction with the Gonarezhou Park in Zimbabwe, and Coutada 16 in Mozambique. This makes it one of the largest parks in the world. |
The park enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with annual rainfalls of 500 to 700 mm, falling between September and March. With the Kruger National Park being so vast it naturally has tremendous species diversity, such as: 114 Reptiles, 1980 Plants, 404 Trees and Shrubs, 224 types of Grass, 147 Mammals, 52 Fish, 517 Birds and 35 Amphibians. The density of permanent game is unrivalled, and provides visitors with unbelievable sights and sounds of the variety on view.

The Kruger National Park and its surrounding areas is a must see destination when visiting South Africa. Besides the large variety of permanent game in the park, it also boasts a great variety of other species such as plants, trees, shrubs, grasses, mammals, fish, reptiles, birds and amphibians.
On route to Kruger, visitors get the opportunity to view some of the most beautiful and natural wonders of South Africa, such as the Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest in world), Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Gods Window and many more. The landscape and climate changes continuously from high lying open grasslands, to mountainous forests and low lying Bushveld area. A variety of industrial and mining activities and agricultural activities can be seen along the route. Your accompanying tourist guide will keep you captivated with the interesting history and information of the areas being visited.
Each of the comfortably appointed 96 luxury en-suite bedrooms will make you feel part of the bush environment. All rooms feature extras such as television, mini-bar fridge, personal tea and coffee making facilities and a spacious working area.
Leisure and sporting activities at the Premier Protea Hotel Kruger Gate include miniature golf, tennis court, volleyball, table tennis and children’s playground, or just relaxing around the refreshing swimming pool.
A buffet-style breakfast is served in the restaurant, while an A La Carte lunch is served on the wooden deck. The Premier Protea Hotel Kruger Gate's new pool deck bar overlooks the Sabie River, perfect for game viewing - Guests can sit back and relax and absorb the amazing sounds of nature while sipping on a refreshing cocktail.
As the dinner drum sounds, one of the most memorable moments of your visit will be dining under the stars. The lapa offers just this experience, along with true African cuisine including game and bubbling potjies of fragrant delicacies.
Day 1 Early morning departure (06h30) from Johannesburg towards the Kruger National Park via the very scenic Panorama route. Drive through the scenic farming and mountain areas before arriving at the escarpment. Visit the magnificent Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God's Window. Enjoy lunch in the town of Graskop, with all its interesting arts and craft galleries. Continue the scenic drive towards the Lowveld area and Kruger National Park. Check into the Premier Protea Hotel Kruger Gate for 3 nights. Dinner is served at the Hotel
Day 2 Enjoy a full day’s game drive on an open vehicle, accompanied by an experienced nature guide. Breakfast packs are provided by the lodge, to enjoy on route at one of the rest camps or picnic areas in the park. Arrive back at the lodge during the mid afternoon, to relax at the pool. Dinner is once again served in the Boma area.
Day 3 Enjoy a Half day game drive on an open vehicle in the park. Arrive back at the lodge at midday, to relax at the pool. The last night’s dinner is once again served in the Boma area.
Guest can choose to rather do a late afternoon game drive followed by dinner at the Hotel. This gives them time to relax in the morning, rather than waking up early.
Day 4 Time to wake up a little later than the previous 2 days. After breakfast, depart from the Kruger Park for another scenic drive back towards Johannesburg. A different route will be followed, with different views and places of interest along the route. Arrival in Johannesburg in the late afternoon.

Day 1 Transfer from Johannesburg hotel to Johannesburg International Airport. Domestic flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. 90 Minute transfer by road to Kruger National Park. Check into the Premier Protea Hotel Kruger Gate for 2 nights. This Premier Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabie River, where wildlife can be viewed from the sundeck. Late afternoon and evening game drive into the park on open air vehicle, followed by dinner served in the Boma area at the Hotel.
Day 2 Enjoy a full day’s game drive on an open vehicle, accompanied by an experienced nature guide. Breakfast packs are provided by the lodge, to enjoy on route at one of the rest camps or picnic areas in the park. Arrive back at the lodge during the mid afternoon, to relax at the pool.
Dinner is served in a traditional open air Boma, after which guests can relax around the campfire and enjoy the starlit skies above.
Day 3 After a relaxing breakfast, guests will be transferred back to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, for the midday domestic flight to Johannesburg Airport.
